WakeNest — Frequently Asked Questions
WakeNest — Frequently Asked Questions
What is WakeNest?
WakeNest is a sleep companion for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. It helps you review your sleep information, explore sleep stages, listen to calming sounds, configure alarms, and better understand your bedtime habits.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
An Apple Watch is recommended for sleep tracking and nighttime heart-rate information. You can still use WakeNest on iPhone or iPad for alarms, ambient sounds, sleep notes, settings, and other available features.
How do I record a sleep session?
Open WakeNest on your Apple Watch and tap “Sleep.” Wear your Watch during the night, then finish the session after waking. Your information will synchronize with the WakeNest app on your iPhone.
Why is my sleep report empty?
Make sure:
• Your Apple Watch was worn during the night
• WakeNest has permission to access Apple Health
• Sleep and heart-rate access are enabled
• Your Watch and iPhone are paired and connected
• WakeNest was opened on both devices after the session
Apple Health data can occasionally take a short time to synchronize.
How do I connect WakeNest to Apple Health?
Open WakeNest Settings and select the Apple Health connection option. Approve access to the sleep and heart-rate information required for your reports.
You can review or change these permissions at any time in the Apple Health or iOS Settings app.
Does WakeNest diagnose sleep disorders?
No. WakeNest is designed for general wellness and informational purposes. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or monitor medical conditions.
If you are concerned about your sleep or health, contact a qualified healthcare professional.
Are my night recordings uploaded?
No. WakeNest keeps night recordings locally on your device. Sound analysis is performed on the device, and WakeNest does not upload your recordings.
Why is the microphone permission required?
Microphone access is used only when you choose to activate night sound recording or sound detection. You can disable microphone access at any time in iOS Settings.
Why can’t I hear an ambient sound?
Check that:
• Your device volume is turned up
• Silent Mode is not preventing the expected playback behavior
• No other application is controlling audio playback
• The sound has finished loading
• WakeNest has not reached the end of the selected timer
Try stopping the sound, closing WakeNest, reopening it, and selecting White Noise again.
How does the sleep timer work?
Select an ambient sound, choose a timer duration, and start playback. WakeNest will automatically stop the sound when the timer ends.
What is included in the free version?
The free version includes the essential WakeNest experience, a basic alarm, White Noise, and Rain. Advertising may appear in the free version.

Why am I seeing advertisements?
Banner and interstitial advertisements can appear in the free version of WakeNest. WakeNest Pro removes advertising.
Depending on your location, WakeNest may ask you to review your advertising privacy choices before loading advertisements.
How do I change my advertising privacy choices?
Open WakeNest Settings and select “Privacy Choices” when this option is available. The option appears in regions where Google’s consent system requires a privacy settings entry point.
How do I export my sleep data?
CSV export is available with WakeNest Pro. Open Settings, select “Export CSV,” and choose where you want to save or share the file.
How do I change my alarm settings?
Open the Alarm tab to configure:
• Alarm time
• Repeat days
• Snooze duration
• Wind-down reminder
• Alarm sound
• Smart wake-up options available with WakeNest Pro
Save the alarm to synchronize supported options with Apple Watch.
Why did my alarm not sound?
Verify that:
• The alarm is enabled
• WakeNest has notification permission
• Your selected time and repeat days are correct
• Focus or notification settings are not blocking alerts
• Your device volume is appropriate
• Your Apple Watch is connected if you use Watch haptics
WakeNest alarms depend on system permissions and device settings.
How do I delete recordings or journal entries?
Open Settings, then select the Privacy Center. You can review and delete locally stored recordings and journal information from there.
Health information stored by Apple Health must be managed through the Apple Health app.
How do I reset WakeNest?
Open Settings and select “Reset Preferences.” This restores WakeNest preferences without deleting information managed by Apple Health.
Which languages does WakeNest support?
English is the primary language. WakeNest automatically follows the language configured on the user’s device when a supported localization is available.
